China is the world’s largest population with 1.3B people and the world’s largest online population at 298M (CNNIC). By 2007, China became the largest online audience (larger than US). By 2011, it is projected China will have 2x the online users of the US but still only 40% of China’s total population online. The 22.6% Internet penetration rate means that there are 298M Internet users in China, ranking first in the world.
The CNNIC report that size of Internet users in China has been close to 300M, increasing by 41.9% from 2007. The Internet penetration rate of China had increased slightly higher than the global average level of 21.9%.
The Internet usage in China had also advanced from mere entertainment use to online shopping, online job hunting, and updating blogs. This makes the online commercial more valuable for the advertisers.
